The presented work reviews applied physics within the areas of mechanics, heat and mass transfer, vibrations and advanced materials that guides sustainable prosthetic limbs and supports. We relate structural testing standards to repairable/recyclable material selection and semi-active dynamic control (damping), in conjunction with thermo-hygrometric interface management; we examine implications for service life, lifecycle cost, user satisfaction, and equity in low-resource settings. This discussion is supported by data and criteria from structural standards (ISO 10328), recent studies on MR dampers for smart prostheses, lifecycle assessment (LCA) exemplars in composite materials and moisture mitigation research into liners.
